In addition to its scheduled shuttle runs, "The Edison Queen", at times operates as a floating classroom. These Guided Tours of Thomas A. Edison Lake, are facilitated by U.S. Forest Service Rangers. While enjoying your cruise around the lake, you'll discover the history of the Southern California Edison dam, built in 1954, and learn about the plentiful flora and fauna of the area. It was named Vermilion Valley back in 1894 by Theodore Solomon. He was captivated by the beauty of the valley with its free flowing creek, surrounded by tall, snow capped mountains. Learn interesting facts about the Mono Indians who once inhabited this pristine wilderness. Check at the store for tours.
