Transportation To/From Fresno, California
VVR is excited to announce our new shuttle between VVR and Fresno, California!
Our shuttle can accommodate up to 4 hikers and their gear. The shuttle runs between Vermilion Valley Resort™ and the Fresno Airport, as well as the Fresno Train/Bus station.
The cost of the shuttle between VVR and Fresno is $175 for the first 2 hikers, $25 per hiker after that (for a max of $225 for 4 hikers).
The shuttle leaves no earlier than 7am from VVR; however, later departures can be arranged. The trip is approximately 3 hours - meaning that the earliest you can arrive in Fresno is about 10am. Please plan your transportation accordingly.
The shuttle will depart Fresno for VVR no later than 7pm, which will deliver you to VVR at 10pm. The power goes out at VVR at 11pm.
Note that we can also pick you up or deliver you to Mono Hot Springs for the same price as VVR.
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking - please call us two weeks in advance of the start of your trip to schedule the shuttle.
Florence Lake
We can also shuttle between Florence Lake and Fresno, for the rate of $200 for the first 2 hikers, $25 per hiker after that (maximum of 4 hikers).
We recommend that solo hikers use our message boards and the PCT-L to find other hikers who need transportation and split the cost.

From Fresno, you can take Greyhound to any major city in the United States, at exceptional rates.
We recommend this to our out-of-country visitors if you have the time and would like to drive across country.
For example, the trip between Fresno and San Franciso takes on average 5 hours, and currently costs less than $40 per person.
Amtrak

Fresno is on the Amtrak's San Jaquin Route. This route terminates to the south in Bakersfield, California, and travels to the North to Stockton, Sacramento, and Oakland, California.
The Trip between Fresno and Oakland takes approximatly 5 1/2 hours, and currently costs around $60 per person.
The trip between Fresno and Bakersfield takes approximately 2 hours, and costs $30 in the afternoon, $20 in the evening.
YARTS (Yosemite Area Transportation System)
The Yosemite Area Transportation System travels between Merced, California and the Yosemite Valley.
UPDATE: As of this year, YARTS now covers Tuolomne Meadows, and East from there to Lee Vining, June Lake, and Mammoth Lakes. This means you can now travel between Fresno and Mammoth Lakes via commercial transportation! And with the ESTA bus on the East side, you can travel from Yosemite all the way to Bishop!
Tickets can be purchased at the Quality Inn, Merced, CA - or via the driver when you board.
To reach Merced, you can use Greyhound out of Fresno - the trip takes about 1 hour, and costs approximately $15
East Side Trail Head Transportation
High Sierra Shuttle - Transportation provides trail head transportation on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
From Bishop
From Bishop, take the ESTA Bus or High Sierra Shuttle to either Ridgecrest, or Yosemite.
From Ridgecrest, you can take the Greyhound or Amtrak into Fresno.
From Yosemite, you can take the YARTS into Merced, and then take the Greyhound or Amtrak into Fresno.
Once in Fresno, you can utilize our shuttle service to take you to VVR, Mono Hot Springs, or Florence Lake (Muir Trail Ranch)

- From Los Angeles, you can take the Amtrak to Merced, CA. This is a 6 hour trip and costs $40 per person.
- From Merced, take the YARTS (Yosemite Area Transportation System) to Yosemite Valley or Tuolomne Meadows. Tickets can be purchased at the Quality Inn, Merced, CA - or via the driver when you board.

- From San Francisco, take the Amtrak to Merced, CA. There are several trips a day, ranging from $25 to $32 per person depending on which terminal you leave from. This trip takes approximately 3.5 hours. Be aware that the first part of the trip is via a short bus trip to Emeryville, CA.
- From Merced, take the YARTS (Yosemite Area Transportation System) to Yosemite Valley or Tuolomne Meadows. Tickets can be purchased at the Quality Inn, Merced, CA - or via the driver when you board.
